“There’s Something About Sophie”
I wonder if Sophie Stanbury can forgive my gratuitous hair envy? It’s the first thing you notice when seeing a Sophie photograph, aside from her natural good looks. The woman has the most incredible mane of hair I’ve ever seen! How’s that for hard-hitting journalism? In fact, I’m just stating the obvious. Hair fascination aside, there is much more to Mrs.Stanbury that just what pleases the eye. I hope you will watch her with me on “Ladies Of London” season 2 airing September 7th in the US on BravoTV.
Born in Denmark, then Sophie Mead-Briggs attended school in the UK. She first completed classes at the Inchbald School of Design, and later studied Editorial Photography at Brighton University.
Sophie made her mark on London’s social scene working at famed nightclub Annabel’s. The club is a private members only haven for blue-bloods, business titans, musicians, and A-list models and actors. As part of the exclusive club scene Sophie became close friends with “It-Girls”of the media, including Caroline Stanbury-Habib. Caroline introduced the beautiful Sophie to her smitten brother Alex Stanbury and the couple later wed. I’m sure Caroline loves taking credit for the couple’s romance whenever the occasion arises! She’s cheeky like that.
Sophie and Alex Stanbury have two young sons, Harry and Finn. The lucky boys inherited mum’s hair (so jealous! ) and natural good looks from both mum and dad. Gorgeous!
In addition to being a busy wife and mum, Sophie has added entrepreneur to her resume opening a home interior decorating/design firm “Sophie Stanbury Interior Design” http://www.sophiestanbury.co.uk/ When sister-in-law Caroline Stanbury and business partner Goga Ashkenazi needed renovations for “The Gift Library” headquarters in London they chose Sophie’s luxurious yet playful aesthetic. Her work on the space reflects the personality of the owners by conveying elegance, modern edges, luxury, and an added touch of whimsy. Sophie is pictured below adding the final touches to the space seen on “Ladies Of London” in season 1.
In addition to designing interiors Sophie is an accomplished photographer, doing both fashion and portrait work. In fact she did photography on the acclaimed feature film “Dancer in the Dark” about eclectic Icelandic singer Bjork. Sophie also worked for one of the world’s largest Hedge funds, and for 5 years at Swarovski working with designers to produce bespoke items in fashion, jewelry, architecture, design and interiors. You can tell from Stanbury’s background that she is a creative force of nature in all aspects of life and living.
I’ve added photos from “Ladies Of London” filming season 2 that include Sophie. Keep watching Bravo fans!
