Why Viewers Have Reached Saturation With “Caitlyn Jenner” And Her E! Show #IAmCait

Unless you’ve been living under a rock in 2015, you know that Bruce Jenner made the decision at age 65 to identify with “her” female gender and live as a woman. Jenner told his story in a ground-breaking interview with Diane Sawyer, and followed that up a month later with his infamous “Vanity Fair” cover reveal as “Caitlyn Jenner” and explosive interview. Finally last month came the Reality Show on E! titled “I Am Cait” which has struggled in vain to find a loyal audience. Has the public reached its saturation point with Caitlyn? Or do we need to look a little deeper?

People are still angry about the fatal car accident Bruce Jenner caused that resulted in the death of one woman and injured another. The police investigation into a deadly four-car accident involving Caitlyn Jenner is finished and the results could lead to a misdemeanor manslaughter charge against the reality television star, a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s detective said Thursday 8/20.

“Jenner’s case is going to go to the district attorney next week to see if it is worthy of a misdemeanor violation for involuntary manslaughter,” Detective. Richard Curry said.

Caitlyn Jenner may face manslaughter charge

 CNN Reports-
Jenner was driving a black Cadillac SUV on February 7 that was the third vehicle involved in a multiple rear-end collision on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, police have said. Kimberly Howe, 69, was driving her Lexus when Jenner’s SUV hit her car from behind, sending it into oncoming traffic where it was hit by another SUV.She died at the scene, police said.

“We did determine in the investigation that Jenner was going at an unsafe speed for the prevailing conditions, even though he was traveling under the posted speed limit, But Jenner didn’t commit gross negligence,” Curry said.

The 1976 Olympic decathlon champion released a statement after the accident: “My heartfelt and deepest sympathies go out to the family and loved ones, and to all of those who were involved or injured in this terrible accident. “It is a devastating tragedy, and I cannot pretend to imagine what this family is going through at this time. I am praying for them.”

Two of Howe’s stepchildren and the driver of a Prius that had stopped in front of Howe’s car are suing Jenner. The Prius driver, Jessica Steindorff, was cited for driving on a suspended license, Curry said.

Jenner has declined to comment on the charges which could result in up to a year in prison.

Unfortunately for Caitlyn Jenner the investigation for the automobile accident has been in the news during the early weeks of her series premiere of “I Am Cait.” The show’s week 2 performance -47% over the premiere episode and 9th place in its time slot. Week 3 numbers a declined further -12% with only 1.2M viewers remaining from the 2.7M premiere. The car accident isn’t the only bad press the former Olympian has faced to alter ratings this dramatically.

In a nutshell ….Caitlyn is just as boring as Bruce! The NY Post article below hits the nail on the head!

Beyond the sheer confusion of it all, “I Am Cait” suffers from many of the same ills that plagued HBO’s gay-themed “Looking” and other television shows rooted in identity politics: A boring chief protagonist whose minority status does not a personality make. Indeed, throughout the Kardashian television canon, no character was . . . well . . . duller than Bruce Jenner. He was a good husband, great dad and enviable golf player (and, of course, Olympic deity). But a scintillating on-air presence? Meh — not so much. Bruce worked well as a background presence; Caitlyn, however, struggles to carry a scene.

Ultimately, Jenner suffers from an acute sense of ho-humness that no amount of makeup, surgery or Vanity Fair covers can erase. As Cait, she may now be the most visible member of America’s most-talked-about minority group. But no matter how hard she tries, Cait simply can’t undo Bruce’s decades of boring white-dudeness.

The Post goes on to say that for Caitlyn’s show to survive she needs to enlist the family that made her famous again after long-ago Olympic glory-The Kardashians.

Mostly — and I shudder to write this — Jenner needs to reach back out to (and get on the air!) the people who helped make her a reality star in the first place: Her bodacious brood of Kardashian hot-mess-ness. Because ultimately, whether it’s Kris or Kylie or Kim, no member of the Kardashian industrial complex is strong (or smart!) enough to stand on her own. Their cultural validity only works as a familial organism — feeding and co-branding and synergizing off each other.

And while she may have a new face, hot bod and totally different gender, even Caitlyn Jenner is simply no exception.

  1. As a contributing volunteer reporter to your ongoing human interest story on Caitlin Jenner, I decided to break my vow of never watching the show again, mostly because it sucks. But I decided to investigate why I felt it was repetitive. And boring. I wrote down each time somebody said community. 32 times. In a one hour show minus commercials, well somebody do the math on that. Are the producers not aware that they repeat the same shit over and over and over, until even the most ardent fan, if there is one, falls into a coma. This week’s Jenner seems to be suffering from a lack of attention from his family. He pretty much had a f u attitude toward them, it is ME time. Me was said18 times. He has lived his life for others (?) for forty years, now he is going to live it for himself. I am sure his first two families would disagree, but I digress. He wants to find out if his male friends can accept the new look. Fortunately he only has two, because he was a grumpy old fart before the transition and an asshole. One is his miniature helicopter repairman, and the other was not introduced. I find this all so confusing. The sexuality part. Jenner claims that she is attracted to women. But the kind of women she is attracted to used to be men. She is not attracted to the neighbor down the street, Oh, my bad she’s dead.
Caitlin is attracted to other male to female trans gendered people, which makes him gay. He may be looking for one who has a titanium vagina like Brandi. I think he wants to keep his pee pee. If this all isn’t about a preoccupation with sex than I am wrong. His hands have liver spots.
~ from your free-lance, uninvited contributor, gessiewtf. Today’s puzzler: Why tf do they say the word community in every sentence. This show is horrible. And I thought I saw a bulge in Jenner’s skirt when Candy Cayne did her vaudeville act. That is all.

    • The bulge…..threw up a little. You can write here anytime! Love your views and the way you turn a phrase xoxo
For Jenner to insist he/she doesn’t know what he’s sexually attracted to just ups the creepy factor. That’s a lie. Maybe if the hormones he puts into his body were to stop for the 4th time he wouldn’t be confused about what gets him off? His duck lips look like Kylie’s now too. Wonder what “the community” thinks of that. Ugh

  2. So true. “What do girls DO at slumber parties,” he asked coyly. I don’t know, Bruce you’ve had at least three biological girls, why don’t you reach deep back into your perverted memories. Or would you like me to go ask my 65 yr. old female neighbor what she does at slumber parties so she can call the cops on me?

Of course I haven’t tuned in to add to the ratings of this drivel. gessie, what you find to be insincere is probably key. I still hold onto the belief that Bruce is still Bruce, and he will flip-flop from Bruce to Cait whenever he wishes. He’s not giving up his package or his manly rights, yet he wants the right to be feminine when it suits him. He wanted ratings and branding. He wanted to be as famous and sought after as Kim after her slut film was discovered. It’s not happening. He’s a cruel person and it’s showing through, no matter which sex he’s claiming to be at the moment. He dissed each of his families (how many now? 3?? 4??), his own mother… everyone close to him!! And they all, sadly, hoped that he’d be a better person as a woman, but it’s not happening.

    • The public is over it. Who wants to watch a 65 year old prance, preen, and preach about a cause they no nothing about it $2,000 shoes!

ITA. I guess he thought he’d be a bigger deal. Maybe America is finally done with these losers. I read that Perez Hilton (blech) had a non K/J week and it was nice, and he was going to do it again this week. Maybe it’ll catch on and they’ll all go away!

    • No. In fact, all it has shown us is that he is overwhelmingly self-centered. And unconcerned about his own family. He is going to put whatever energy that he failed to put into his duties as a father and a husband into the Trans-gendered community. He had families to cover his true identity, evidently. He was cold to his mother all his life.

  4. I find this to be a very good synopsis of that show. Jenner is dull, Jenner is a bore. There is something deeply insincere about her. Her “girlfriends” are all paid to be her girlfriends. A slumber party with Candace? Does anybody remember her last slumber party? I think I was thirteen at best. There is no drama. Jenner is a shallow human being, and I think it is most unfortunate for those who are trying to make him into a hero and role model….let’s just say thet could have picked a better person.
