#LadiesOfLondon Star Marissa Hermer Talks About Her 3rd Pregnancy and a “Top Dog” Sequel

lol1

If you are a regular reader of this blog you know how much I LOVE BravoTV’s Ladies Of London. I’ve been in a huge funk since season 2 ended and can’t wait until filming begins on the 3rd. Lovely #LOL star Marissa Hermer, and her adorable husband Matt announced this summer they were expecting their 3rd child in 2016. M&M own several restaurants and clubs in London including Boujis, Bumpkin, and Marissa’s (4th?) baby Top Dog. BravoTV.com caught up with the Hermer’s and got the scoop on Marissa’s pregnancy.

Marissa Hermer was ecstatic to announce her pregnancy last December, not only because she’s be expecting her third child with husband Matt Hermer but also because she wasn’t sure if she’d still be pregnant by that point. That’s because Marissa was diagnosed with placenta accreta, which occurs when the placenta attaches itself too deeply and too firmly in the uterine wall during pregnancy. This can cause dangerously heavy bleeding after giving birth. “It just means the pregnancy is very high risk. I’ve sort of been on-and-off bed rest from the beginning,” Marissa told The Daily Dish on the phone from the Soho Farmhouse in Oxfordshire, England. “So we’re excited. It’s been a bit of a roller coaster is the honest truth. So far, everything’s going in the right direction. So we’re hopeful it continues to go that way.”

Though Marissa has already given birth to sons Max and Jake, this pregnancy has been a different experience because of her condition. For one thing, Marissa had C-sections performed during her two previous births, and her third child is expected to be born earlier than its due date in late May. “For me, I’ve always had sort of planned pregnancies or planned deliveries. And now actually, I don’t quite know when it’s gonna come,” Marissa said. “So I’m sort of just trying to prepare myself, as much as you can prepare yourself to have another baby. But nothing ever works out according to plan or to timing, as my husband would say. It’ll come when it comes.”

Marissa and Matt also learned the sex of their first two children as soon as they could, but they’ve been waiting to find out with this baby. “I’ve been hesitant to find out just because I almost didn’t want to get too attached early on while it was still touch and go. But we’re getting further along, so it’s exciting. Matt is desperate to find out, although I’m convinced it’s another boy, so I’m not sure what there is to find out,” she explained. “But we might find out at our next scan, which is I think at 26 weeks, so in the next couple of weeks we’ll find out.”

With a household full of boys, you’d think Marissa would be hoping for a little girl this time around. However, after the challenges of this pregnancy, she’s just wishing for a healthy baby. “I think at one point I probably would have been disappointed if it wasn’t a girl. And now, I’m so thankful that I’m actually still pregnant. And if I can have a baby on the other end now, I really, truly feel if he or she comes out and is happy and healthy, then I’ve made it. So I don’t care anymore. I really don’t,” Marissa said. “If we can have a healthy baby, then I’ll be very happy.”

Though Marissa had Jake shortly before Season 1 of Ladies of London premiered, she is still getting used to having her baby bump grow in the public eye. “Most people announce their pregnancies sort of at three months, and at three months, I wasn’t prepared to announce the pregnancy just because I didn’t know still what direction it was gonna go. It is our third child, and I was showing at like 10 weeks or nine weeks. I think that’s what happens because my body just knows where to go now, so I hid it so much longer than I wanted,” she told The Daily Dish. “I’ve also never announced a pregnancy before. I mean, you know, you tell your parents, your parents and family, that’s sort of it. You certainly don’t get called from People magazine saying, ‘Tell us about your pregnancy,’ so that’s been new. But it’s been nice. We are really excited about it, so it’s fun to share.”

And when you look as stunning as Marissa did while showing off her baby bump at Zoolander 2’s London premiere earlier this month, you certainly don’t mind sharing your pregnancy with the world. “It’s fun to dress a pregnant bump. Let’s be honest, most of the time I feel like an absolute walrus,” she said. “But when I have the right dress that shows off my bump and when I have my hair and makeup done and then suddenly when I’m walking the red carpet or, in this case, the blue carpet, it’s pretty nice. You suddenly feel like you’re glowing in all the right ways.”

Marissa definitely wants to celebrate her pregnancy, but she said we probably won’t see her throw a baby shower at Bumpkin until after he or she is born. “I’m so superstitious about this pregnancy that I don’t know if I want to have the party quite yet. And though I want to celebrate the pregnancy, I think we’re going to have a big party after the baby’s born,” she explained. “I’m opening another Top Dog probably right when the baby’s gonna be born as well, and there’s so much stuff to do for that, so I think I might wait a little bit on that until the baby’s born and Top Dog is open and then celebrate them all at once.”

We’re sure that celebration will be one Marissa and her loved ones will never forget. The Ladies of London sure do know how to party, after all. Best of luck to the Hermer family! Let’s keep petitioning BravoTV and Andy Cohen for Ladies Of London Season 3!
